about NCST :
National Centre for Software Technology

NCST Logo (my favourite)NCST, a Scientific Reasearch and Development Institution of the Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India has merged with C-DAC in the year 2003. NCST has its offices in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Bangalore.

NCST-Electronics City, Bangalore ( Where I enjoyed my 1 year study as an FPGDSTian )

It functions as a centre of excellence in the area of software technology and related computer science. Also NCST provides high level Technical consultancy services to other organisations and offers a high quality continuing education programme conducted at different locations in india.

From where I did the FPGDST course (Shabeer M M)

NCST offers one-year post-graduate diploma courses , such as FPGDST ( Fulltime Post Graduate Diploma in Software Technology ), PGDST, PGDIT and APGDST. The candidate selection is on the basis of the performance in the CST ( Competence in Software Technology ) test . Now C-DAC ( Formerly NCST ) is also doing the same process for the same.

One of the main challenge, which I / anybody would appreciate, about NCST, is a test - MGPT ( Machine Graded Programming Test ) - which tests the candidate's ability for problem solving and programming skills. In this test, participants will be given two problem statements, including complete input/output specification. Participants will be required to understand the problem requirements, devise a suitable solution method, code it in the language asked for and get it working on the computer. The evaluation will be done automatically by computer ( Parikshak environment ), by comparing the outputs produced by the participant's program against expected outputs for some pre-set inputs (Usually less than 10% of the candidates passes this stressful test). Passing these tests requires good familiarity with unix environments and considerable practice in Java/C programming ( of which I have cleared one MGPT in OOPJ ).

An NCSTian can grasp and apply any technology from & into the IT Matrix, within a lesser span time, while weighing with all other talented stream of people, as s:he ( the NCSTian ) get methodologically trained for that, other than their inborn talents. The past has proved that, the present is proving that and the future will prove that. That makes an NSTian say, with delight,
" I am proud to be an NCSTian".
